One such beautiful natural wonder is the Gadani Beach. Balochistan, a province who has been always attached with its negative connotations of underdevelopment and instability in the region, these sites serve to present the rich side of it. The mingling of blue water with golden sand looks appealing to the eyes of the beholder.
The name ‘Gadani’ comes from a small fishing town in the Lasbela District of Balochistan. It is located close to the Hub River and Cape Monze in Gadani, approximately 50 kilometers away from Karachi. The beach is surrounded by mountains making it a site of amazing scenery. The beach is also an attractive tourist spot as there are different activities involved for the facilitation and enjoyment of the tourists. Within these include the camel ride, hiking, the taste of seafood, night camping, different sports game like volleyball, racing, rock climbing and obviously enjoying the satisfying scenery of the beach. For facilitating the tourists, small huts are given on rent that can be used for eating food, relaxing, and for keeping one’s belongings.
Along with serving as the tourist spot and a symbol of beauty of nature, there also exist a ship-breaking yard at Gadani. This ship-breaking yard is named as the third largest ship-breaking yard in the world. It is located 10 kilometers along the Gadani shoreline. It has a capacity of breaking more than 100 ships yearly. It has around 135 plots of ship-breaking which are functioning, and its topography helps it becoming one of the best ship-breaking yard in the world. For this reason, the Gadani ship-breaking yard is known as the graveyard of ships.
Pakistan has been facing economic uncertainty and instability for a significant time-period. One of the major reasons behind the weak economy of Pakistan is its very less focus on the tourism industry. Tourism industry should be promoted as it opens different areas for revenue generation and along with that, cultural connections are built, and the positive experience of tourist leads towards more tourism.
Gadani beach is one of the important sites to work on. While improving the facilitation of tourist at the Gadani Beach and ensuring the cleanliness of the beach, Pakistan can generate great amount of profit from it. Pakistan is never seen as a site with beautiful beaches, hence improving the conditions of our beaches and promoting them will eventually lead towards opening a new domain of tourists, those who are strongly attached with the beauty of nature, the intermingling of blue water and golden sand, and the beautiful mountains surrounding this natural wonder.
Along with the Gadani Beach, there are also other tourist spots in Balochistan like Kund Malir Beach and Astola Island among many that can serve as the cornerstone of the tourism industry of Pakistan. Balochistan has been attached with the negative connotations of security concerns, and instability which should be vanished now, and a great tourist environment should be ensured in Balochistan where different tourism spots should be the reason of Balochistan’s recognition. Hence, a transition from the so-called negative connotation towards positive connotations is the need of the hour, not only for the Balochistan province, but for the whole prestige and honor of Pakistan. Also, Balochistan can serve as the hub of Pakistan’s tourism.
